Emergency First Responder

As an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you are certified to conduct a variety of courses through to Divemaster certification level. Many of these courses require First Aid and CPR training prior to certification. We believe that you should be able to offer your students this training.

Without the Emergency First Responder Instructor(EFRI) rating, you reduce your chances of employment and increase the risk of your students going to a colleague or rival to complete their training.

Why give your students away?

PADI Emergency First Responder meets the requirements for:

  • Rescue Diver
  • Divemaster
  • Assistant Instructor
  • IDC/IOC

Teaching the EFR course has other advantages, not only can you emphasize the importance of being able to help someone in an emergency, but you can also market Medic First Aid in other ways such as, a community service course, or to non-divers at which time encouraging them to become Open Water divers.

During the EFRI Course, you'll learn about the methodology behind EFR as well as covering interesting topics such as the psychology of resuscitation. Held after the IE, it's a relaxed, straightforward one day course that you will find very rewarding.

Assistant Instructors can also take the EFRI Course. As a PADI Instructor or PADI Assistant Instructor, you owe it to yourself to complete this training.

Please note that although equivalencies for CPR such as Red Cross or St. Johns Ambulance apply to the IDC and IE, you must have completed the EFR Course prior to starting EFRI training.
