Dive Sites

The magical underwater world around the Gili IslandsThe magical underwater world around the Gili Islands boasts year-round crystal clear waters with an average water temperature of 28° Celsius. Dive sites are all accessible within 10 to 20 minutes by boat, allowing more dives in a day.

Recreational dive sites range in depth from 10 meters to 40 meters and are mainly coral gardens, coral ridges and walls. There are over twenty recreational dive sites around the Gili Islands, providing numerous diving adventures.


Technical dive sites range in depth from approximately 45 meters to whatever depth you are certified to dive. The majority of the technical dive sites are walls starting at approximately 40 meters with some going as deep as 200 meters. There is a great Japanese WWII wreck dive at 45 meters.

Some of the marine life seen around the Gili Islands are: large schools of bumphead wrasse, trevally and sweetlips; turtles; eagle, cow and manta rays; whitetip, blacktip and grey sharks; oceanic sunfish (mola mola); napolean wrasse, cuttle fish, octopi, moray eels, nudibranchs, seahorses and numerous species of other tropical fish. If you get really lucky, sometimes you will see whale sharks.
