In October 2010 we plan to dive the HMS Repulse out of Singapore and return to the Balikpapan Wrecks in February 2011. Please email us regarding the dates of these trips.

2009 Tip Dates
Trip 1 - October 23 to October 29, 2009. The 5 days of diving will be October 24 to 28
Trip 2 - October 30 to November 5, 2009. The 5 dive days will be October 31 to November 4
Trip 3 - November 6 to November 12, 2009. The 5 dive days will be November 7 to 11
We can accommodate a maximum group of six divers per trip. Dives will be conducted in two groups of four guided by Simon Liddiard and Will Goodman.
Sample Schedule and General Information
Day 1 - Fly into Balikpapan
Day 2 to Day 6 - Two decompression dives per day
Day 7 - Fly out of Balikpapan
- Accommodation will be at a four star hotel
- Daily trips depart at 7:00am from the hotel beach directly to the wrecks and return at approximately 5:00pm
- Travel time to and from the wrecks is approximately 1.5 hours each way
- Two extended decompression dives per day with lunch and surface interval
- Helium is required if you wish to dive open circuit deeper than 55 meters and dive CCR deeper than 45 meters. Helium would allow divers to venture deeper into the vast cargo bays in many of the ships
- We are shipping our own compressor and blending station to Balikpapan
- We have brand new 100cu.ft. twins (usually 80 cu.ft. in Asia) for open circuit divers
- The wrecks are all between 35 to 65 meters with the majority of dive time at the 45 to 50 meters
- For decompression all divers will carry their own stage tanks
- Emergency decompression gas will be staged on a shot line
- Divers need to have a minimum certification of TDI Decompression Procedures or IANTD Advanced or equivalent Proficient in diving with double tanks and extended decompression techniques
- All dives will conducted within the "light zone" unless divers hold an advanced wreck diving certification
- All divers must hold current DAN insurance for technical diving
- All divers will need to bring their own equipment unless rental equipment is requested and paid for in advance
Trip Costs
Open Circuit Diver is $1,890 USD and includes the following
- Six nights accommodation (based on double occupancy rooms) at a 4 star hotel with breakfast included
- Two sets of 100 cu.ft. doubles and two 80 cu.ft. tanks with 80% decompression mixes each day
- Three 80 cu.ft. emergency decompression tanks with 80% oxygen available each day
- Daily boat charter including packed lunch
- Experienced wreck Instructor/Guides Simon Liddiard and Will Goodman
CCR Diver - $1,790 USD and includes the following
- Six nights accommodation (based on double occupancy rooms) at a 4 star hotel with breakfast included
- 200 bar oxygen and diluent fills each day and bailout cylinder with air or helium if requested
- Three 80 cu.ft. emergency decompression tanks with 80% oxygen available each day
- Daily boat charter including packed lunch
- Experienced wreck Instructor/Guides Simon Liddiard and Will Goodman
Due to the logistics of planning these expedition trips to Balikpapan, a 30% deposit is required when booking and a further 30% payable one month prior to departure. The balance payable before or upon arrival to Balikpapan.
Not Included
- Flights or transportation to and from Balikpapan
- Helium for Trimix divers if booked and paid for in advance at a cost of $0.60 USD per fill liter of gas
- Sofnolime for CCR divers if booked and paid for in advance at a cost of $12 USD per kilogram
- Evening meals
